About & FAQ
Nestled on the banks of the Sheepscot River near historic Wiscasset is Marianmade Farm. As a working lavender and flower farm, the setting brings a piece of Provence to mid-coast Maine. Owner & designer, Michelle Peele, uses her farm fresh florals to create simple and unique floral designs.
The farm hosts a select number of weddings and events each year. With a waterfront outdoor ceremony site, a timber frame event barn, and acres of natural beauty, Marianmade Farm serves as the perfect backdrop for your celebration.
For what types of events will you provide floral design work?
We provide floral designs for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, dinner parties, funerals and other special events both onsite and throughout Maine.
How do you source your flowers?
Many of the flowers Michelle uses in her designs come right from the grounds of Marianmade Farm. She also makes regular visits to the Boston Flower Exchange to ensure that she has access to a wide variety of the highest quality, freshly cut flowers.
Am I able to visit Marianmade Farm in person?
Of course! We love to share the farm with as many of visitors as possible. Please contact us to set up a time to visit the farm, as it is open by appointment only.
What is the origin of the name, ‘Marianmade Farm?’
Michelle’s mother, Marian, was the inspiration for the farm’s name. Michelle attributes much of her creativity and work ethic to her mother, so it seemed a fitting tribute to name the farm after a woman she admires so greatly.
What are some of the flowers you grow at Marianmade Farm?
Lavender, hydrangeas, sunflowers, echinacea, russian sage, sedums, zinnias, dahlias, snapdragons, sweet peas, black eyed susan, salvia, peonies, lupine, thistle, poppies, and many others. We’re always adding more!
How long have you been designing?
Michelle has been in the design field for over twenty-five years, but her green thumb has been around for a lifetime. While in college, Michelle worked as a florist to earn extra money. During this time, she learned the basics of flower arranging. Using the basic skills she learned at an early age, coupled with her innate design sense, Michelle continued to create lovely arrangements for friends and for her own family’s home.
Events at Marianmade Farm FAQ:
How many guests may I have at my wedding?
Our barn comfortably seats 140 people, but with creativity and tenting we are able to host weddings of 200 people.
Will we have to bring portable toilets for our guests?
No, our barn was built with weddings in mind. Your guests will have access to two bathrooms at the barn site. The changing cottage next to the barn has a private bathroom reserved for the bridal party.
Will I need to rent tables and chairs for my reception in the barn?
We are happy to provide our handcrafted wood and iron tables for your guests. Our tables seat 140 people. Please peek at our gallery of wedding images for views of these tables. Because chair choices are so varied based on wedding style, we do require you rent your own chairs. Michelle is happy to provide a list of rental companies familiar with our farm.
Do you have preferred vendors?
We do have a list of preferred vendors. Most of the vendors on our list are carefully selected suggestions. However, we do ask that you either use a caterer, bartender and wedding coordinator from our list, or request prior approval before selecting another caterer or bartender to work at Marianmade Farm.
Are there hotel and rental home options near the farm?
Yes! Mid-coast Maine has lovely homes, inns and hotel options. There are several great options within a 3 mile radius of the farm. We are happy to direct you to these options during the booking process.
